Something quite unusual is happening at Fayence–Tourrettes airfield.
Inland from Cannes, construction has now started on a project that could well become the most desirable place for ULM pilots on the whole Côte d’Azur.
The project is called Soaring Village — and the concept is simple and brilliant:
live upstairs – hangar your aircraft below.

Sixteen apartments will be built, each with shared hangar space underneath (one hangar bay per two apartments). There will also be a swimming pool. Completion is planned for autumn 2026 at latest
This is extremely rare on the Riviera — and the timing could not be better.

High-end modern light aircraft, such as my Blackwing, are still not welcome at Cannes. Nobody really understands the logic, but it means that Fayence–Tourrettes effectively remains the one realistic airfield option for those who want to fly and stay near Cannes and Nice.
25 minutes’ drive to Cannes 45 minutes’ drive to Nice Airport
And here, unlike Cannes, you can actually put your aircraft indoors.

As per today ( november 2025) only three apartments remain.
That tells you everything.
For pilots who dream of combining the Riviera lifestyle with real airfield access — this could become the new reference point in the region.
A real plane owners’ paradise in the making
