Twenty-six aircraft do not fly across Europe together by luck. Behind the scenes, two platforms are doing quiet, essential work for the group — SkyDemon for planning and navigation, SafeSky for traffic awareness — and both have stepped up as official supporting partners.
SkyDemon — a dedicated expedition licence
SkyDemon is one of Europe’s leading flight-planning and navigation platforms, and for the duration of the expedition participating crews are being given access to a dedicated expedition SkyDemon licence. From route preparation and NOTAM briefings to in-flight navigation and post-flight analysis, SkyDemon covers the workflow end-to-end.
There is one caveat we have been clear about with the group: the shared expedition licence should be used for planning and navigation, but not for filing flight plans. Flight-plan-related email confirmations from a shared licence route to the central account rather than to each individual pilot, and SkyDemon has confirmed that cannot be changed on a per-user basis. Filing goes through each pilot’s own account or another filing method — everything else runs on the shared licence.
SafeSky — one month of Premium + a Live Map for the airfields
SafeSky is a traffic-awareness application designed for pilots, providing an additional picture of nearby air traffic to help crews maintain better situational awareness of others operating in the same area. It sits alongside visual lookout, ATC services and certified traffic equipment — it does not replace them.
For the expedition SafeSky has arranged one month of complimentary SafeSky Premium access for every participating crew (activated with a group redeem code before departure), and has created a dedicated Georgia 2026 Live Map for host airfields and ground teams — so those welcoming us can follow the group in real time as aircraft approach and arrive, with monitored zones around each participating airfield.
With 26 aircraft of different cruising speeds spreading naturally along each leg, the Live Map gives the ground side an added layer of awareness of the exact same picture we see in the cockpit — while every crew continues to fly completely independently.
Why platform partners matter for an expedition
An organised expedition of this size is far more than 26 individual flights that happen to land at the same airfields. It is a coordinated operation, run by volunteers, where the tooling has to be consistent across the group. Both SkyDemon and SafeSky have made a considered choice to support this expedition specifically — not by attaching a logo to a sponsor board, but by contributing what they actually make. That distinction matters, and I want it on record.
