Luxembourg–Georgia Private Pilot Expedition 2026

Preparations underway — pre-registration now open

The Private Pilot Expedition 2026 from Luxembourg to Georgia is a non-commercial aviation expedition organised by pilots for pilots.

Long-distance flying has always been at the heart of general aviation — not about speed or efficiency, but about discovery, planning, and the shared experience of crossing borders under your own wings.

In late summer 2026, a group of European private pilots will once again depart from Luxembourg on an ambitious aviation journey towards Georgia, retracing the spirit of an earlier expedition flown nearly a decade ago. What began as an idea among pilots has now evolved into a carefully prepared international aviation expedition, bringing together crews who share a passion for exploration, adventure and responsible long-range flying.

The Luxembourg–Georgia Private Pilot Expedition 2026 is not a commercial event, but a pilot-to-pilot initiative — an opportunity to experience Europe and the Caucasus step by step, airfield by airfield, combining aviation, culture and friendship along the way.

Key dates (confirmed)

  • Departure from Luxembourg: Saturday 29 August 2026
  • First stop: Jakabszállás Airfield (Hungary) on Sunday 30 August 2026, where the group will stay one night.

The expedition is designed with different routes for the outbound and return journeys, allowing participants to discover a wider variety of landscapes, airfields and aviation cultures rather than simply retracing the same path home.

2026 Expedition concept

This is a non-commercial aviation expedition, organised by pilots, for pilots, focused on:

  • safe and well-prepared long-distance flying
  • international aviation exchange
  • cultural discovery
  • building friendships within the European GA and ULM community

We expect a mixed fleet of classic general aviation and high-end microlights, including aircraft such as:

  • Piper and Cessna aircraft
  • touring GA aircraft from across Europe
  • high-performance ULMs such as Shark and Blackwing

Both AVGAS and MOGAS (E5) aircraft are therefore part of the operational planning.

The expedition is organised under the patronage of the Honorary Consulate of Georgia in Luxembourg, with the objective of strengthening ties between European and Georgian aviation communities.

A key principle of the expedition is to keep the organisational setup simple and costs under control, ensuring that participation remains accessible and aligned with the spirit of private aviation exploration.

Pre-registration is open now

Pre-registration is open as of now.

Pre-registration is not a firm commitment and does not yet constitute confirmed participation. Its purpose is to help the organisers estimate group size and operational requirements during the preparation phase.

Pilots who wish to pre-register are asked to provide:

  • crew names
  • aircraft type
  • fuel type (AVGAS or MOGAS)
  • mobile number of the PIC

📩 Pre-register by email: contact@privatepilot.lu

Crews who pre-register will be added to a dedicated WhatsApp group, which will serve as the main informal communication channel during preparation (updates, coordination and exchange between participants).

Official registration opens in April 2026

The formal registration process will open in April 2026.

At that moment, the detailed presentation of the route and operational planning will be announced, once coordination with participating airfields and logistics partners has been completed.

Participants will then receive full practical information and confirmation procedures.

Preparations are now underway, and interest has already been very encouraging. We look forward to sharing further updates as the expedition gradually takes shape.
